Default what is the most common colour in England?

I personally think it's a medium-darkish blond with reddish undertones, like Paul Bettany's hair, i've been to England and that was my impressio, there was a minority with brown hair (altough rather chocollate/mousy brown than blackish brown) and a minority with red and light blond hair.
Blondism in England can be compared to Denmark, the low countries and North Germany, english blondes have a strong reddish undertone, it can be described as a dark golden blond with additionally reddish strains (strawberry blond?), and they are similar in that regard to west germanics, while Irish are more often pure gingers/red haired and at the same time darker haired (altough not by much).
As a whole in terms of blondism the English are closer to Dutch,Germans and Scandinavians then to Irish,Scottish and Welsh.

More like a light-to-medium brown, such as James Milner and Steven Gerrard.

those are very dark golden blonds, they are not even close to brown, however in my opinion the averege English is lighter hair colour wise and skin wise than the players above, the averege english has a pinkish-pale skin tone that cannot even tan, it burns only, and medium golden blond hair (like Paul Bettany or at least similar).

It's not Sweden but quite close, most of England genetic heritage comes from Denmark,North Germany and the Low Countries.
There are of course dark haired English but they are not that common, i mean there are even dark haired Swedish (like Ignmar Bergman).
Many English aren't ethnically so anyway but rather South-Euro,African or Indian or a mix between English and the aformentioned nationalities, think to Freddie Mercury who was fully indian of Parsi ancestry.

Yes there are English people of foreign descent, but the number of dark-haired/eyed English people goes considerably beyond that. While there is a large Germanic influence as you say, there is also the darker Paleoatlantid strain too, which makes them quite distinct from Scandinavians and even many Germans and Dutch.

The Germanic admxiture is not only an influence but a predominant strain the population,in reality true dark haired/eyed English are quite rare, people with darkish or dark hair in England have almost always light skin and eyes, finding a dark brown eyed ethnic englishman is very rare, finding a black haired englishman extremly rare, finding an englishman with brown hair is more common but not as common as finding some with blond hair.

    England hair colour statistics:

    Golden blond hair: 40%
    pure red hair: 10%
brown hair (from light to dark):40%
    platinium blond hair: 9,5%
    black hair: 0,5%

    England eye colour statistics:

    blue eyes: 60%
    green eyes: 30%
    hazel eyes:9%
    brown eyes: 1%

I don't think Paul Bettany can be considered brown haired in any country in the world, he is golden blond, or to put in simple YELLOW blond haired, the guy in Feederofravens has a very english look.
