The British-Icelandic Cod Wars (sorry a little bit off-topic)
was a territorial dispute for possession of waters in the North Sea
where there's a lot of cod fish... and the British love cod fish n' chips
(a dish introduced to the British from Spain.)
Gordon Brown, an unelected former UK Prime Minister from Scotland,
(who was very unpopular with the British people in the UK)
put Iceland on a list as a 'terrorist nation' due to Iceland refusing to pay massive debts
to the UK people who'd invested in Iceland's banks before Iceland's banks collapsed.
Then a British bank (Northern Rock) went bankrupt and British taxpayers were expected by Brown
to bail out the bank. Angry British people moved their savings into off-shore Irish banks
to avoid UK bank charges imposed by Gordon Brown,
and so it backfired on the UK government.
The Irish were shown in the media as being very happy
with the surge of Brits withdrawing their savings from British banks and investing in off-shore Irish banks,
with Gordon Brown looking upset and trying to urge British people to stay with British banks.
The Icelanders won the cod wars, won the most gold medals in the worlds strongest men competitions,
remain independent from the EU government, had a peaceful revolution a few years ago
jailing their government and bankers in their country, and their economy
went from being on a worse scale of a crisis than the US
for the size of their nation compared to the level of the crisis,
to becoming one of the fastest growing economies in Europe 2 years later
since they held a peaceful revolution with little news coverage by the international media.
The comical video below is a mockery of Gordon Brown
for putting Iceland onto an international 'Terrorist Nation' list.
Icelandic people held angry protests and were furious with Gordon Brown
for expecting the Icelandic people to pay an astronomical debt to the British and Dutch people
who lost money by investing their savings into Iceland's banks.
Then a big volcano erupted in Iceland which caused a huge cloud of ash to
blow over Britain and so flights in and out of the UK were suspended for days
and a lot of business and money was lost.
