Humans do possess an excessive self-awareness. There is a vicious cycle, a short circuit feedback between the evolution of self-awareness and intelligence. They prepare the ground to put enrichment to one another. Self-awareness triggers intelligence and intelligence causes more self-awareness.

This puts us in a situation where we want to strive more to control everything around us as much as possible. Otherwise, if we don't strive to control anything, our extensive self-awareness starts to itch and cause pain. Pain of knowing what happens to us while not being able to have control over things, thus feeling like a victim.

That is the whole reason of why humans feel the need to overcome their lower impulses and discipline their minds.

Social Darwinism depends on a very simple fact, imo. The stronger, the more control over things. That strength, indeed, does not necessarily mean physical strength at all. I think a strong entity is pretty much that which is successful in manipulating the outer factors and conditions in favor of itself.

This whole thing has nothing to do with how things should work. It's how things work already without human input.

As long as it's not laissez-faire capitalism, it is cool.
