Atheists are generally people who reject the religion that they were no doubt forcibly indoctrinated with, and then go on a mega-rant, instead of finding God somewhere else.
What they do not realise is that atheism is a religion of its own. There is even an atheist branch within Hinduism.
Typically in Christian societies, they become anti-Christian and then have a hard time justifying it, because they were successfully brainwashed, and Christianity is such bollocks. Other times there are Orthodox Jews who go really anti, and turn really hardcore atheist or even Marxist.
You see, something has to take the place of God, whether it is Humanism, Marxism, drugs or fucking.
What would you rather do?

Religion does NOT have to have a God. Buddhism is a religion, and they are atheist, so under certain cases one can be both, but in the western world most atheists do not and would not identify as following any religion. What they do not realise is that atheism is a religion of its own. There is even an atheist branch within Hinduism.
A relgion is defined as follows:
Atheism doesn't fit this at all. So please don't say it is a religion of any kind, as that's a tired criticism from actual religious people.Definition of religion
noun
[mass noun]
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods:
[count noun] a particular system of faith and worship:

Don't take me wrong, I believe you can get good values from the bible, I just dislike anyone who believes all shit that is written word by word.
Catholicism was only a means of uniting Europe in the past, now we have to learn that religions and superstitions are non-sense and have no place in the modern world where we have reached enough knowledge about the universe and developed in technology ofc.
However, I do believe that spirituality (not to be confused with religion) can go hand in hand with science, spirituality is all about what science can't understand, which is the non-physical dimension.

Hm, I remember there was a period when I actively tried to be religious. I was about 11 or 12 years old. I read this "child's bible", then I tried to read the real thing. I found the many logical inconsistencies, and the premise of "faith", to not suit me at all. Before that, I was mostly accepting Christianity as one possible explanation given to me by my family (mostly my father's), but never did I put a critical effort to my religion. However, I think I'd describe myself as at least a cultural christian, as I appreciate very much many cultural applications of Christianity.
I've noticed that Protestantism in the United States is quite different from other forms of organized religion. I've noticed that many protestants infuse other religious (or metaphysical) beliefs into their core christian belief. This is what the majority of the working class (including my mother has.) I think that is why the United States is resistant to atheism or rather "non-religious affiliation." These large corporations compete to match-up with the specialized beliefs of individuals. On the contrary, Roman Catholicism (which is what my father adheres to) is the same as it is everywhere else, and hence it seems to be decreasing in popularity and power, which is evident in Gallup polls where Roman Catholics are the most worried of all Christians in the U.S.

What remains of the modern atheism without the judeo-christian morality ?
