    Default Day of the Thunder

For us Europeans, there's mainly three ways of calling the day of today, Thursday:

1 - Day of the God Sky, the one related to Thunderbolt and storm, power, whether we call him Jupiter, Thor, Urtzi or Enji.
2 - Fourth day of the week, or Fifth day. Apparently some Europeans wouldn't agree on this.
3 - For the Goidelic people, it's a day between fasts.

Made this to visualize things better. It does not always correspond to language families, as there are loanwords and calques, like Hungarian taking it from Slovak, etc. Sorry if I left a few languages out, I based it on the map I posted of official/recognized languages.

People around here believe you're not supposed to work on Saint Elijah (the Thunderer)'s day because you might get struck by thunder or your crops might get destroyed by hail. So, that's the closest to a thunder day for us
Saint Elijah is claimed to have taken up many attributes of Perun, the Slavic thunder god, in our culture btw.

In Spanish its Jueves. Which, if following Spanish conjugation rules, would roughly translate to "genderless testicles".

A map that mentions "Gallo" and "Arpitan" can't be taken much seriously.

The Muslim way of calling the days of the week has been passed to Portuguese, Maltese, and Greek (in Turkish it's also "fifth day"), but is there any evidence that some Andalusian or Sicilian dialect also features that legacy?

Call them Breto-Romance and Franco-Provençal if you think that makes it any more serious.

The Portuguese way was taken from Church Latin.

Do you also see Muslim influence in the Icelandic and Bavarian 'fifth day'?

So you count week days starting from Saturday? Seems to be Jewish custom, but I am not an expert.

Starting the religious week on Sunday has been very common in the past, not only in countries where Thursday is the 'fifth day'.

What about you Slavs, calling Wednesday the middle of the week?
