The first Romanian sentences I ever heard, before the South-West of Europe became New Romania, were clearly Romantic:

Sufletul ei nu poate să fie salvat. Ea este blestemată. Astă e legea lui Dumnezeu.
    Renunţ! Renunţ la Dumnezeu!
    Tu n-ai iubit niciodată.
Nu-i adevărat. Şi eu pot să iubesc, şi o să iubesc din nou.

Her soul cannot be saved. She is damned. It is God's law.
    Renounce! I renounce God!
    You never loved.
It's not true. I too can love, and I will love again.

There are about two millions of Romanians in SW Europe (mainly Italy and Iberia). That makes Romanian the 4th most spoken first language in Spain (after Spanish, Catalan and Galician).
