One could fit in the definition of European by just be born on European soil. But surely we don't define this way otherwise millions of black "Frenchmen" in Africa would be considered European by us. Obviously the very definition of European is to hail from Europe and is 100% genetically European.

Haha okay, but I will be serious.
I think that they are Europeans in a sense. It doesn't really matter how much problems there are with them. Europe herself is problematic. I heard that once they were expunged from India, but what reason would Europe have to expunge them? That they are criminals? Not all of them are. That they are racially foreign? Well, that would certainly be a precedent to the exclusion of other groups, not to mention that there is no racial definition of European in the first place. That they are culturally foreign? To that one can answer much the same again, but this time the stress is on the word definition, firstly because culture is difficult to define, and secondly because European culture is not monolithic and never was.
