Yes, the Muslims influenced Europe during this period (High Middle Ages), but most of these Muslims were not Arabs anyway, and the Muslims themselves were influenced very heavily by the Greeks, and Romans, and by the non-Arab Peoples they conquered, in Persia, Mesopotamia, Levant, Egypt, etc.. The most important influences the Muslims had on Europe, as even you're source mentions were the rediscoveries of the Classic Greco-Roman texts, and the Greeks, and Romans were Europeans who influenced the Arabs/Muslims. Also, the Muslims in Spain were mainly converted native Iberians, and their descendants, the ethnic Arabs, and Berbers were a minority.

According to BBC history channel. It talked about plague, rats and lices that killed many Europeans. Economy deterioration, the decline of the Roman empire, the rise of the Muslim surpassing christianity in everything and was a time when Europe suffered endless invasions from North Africa, Middle east, Central Asia, Mongolia.

BBC has made series about great civilisations and i have watched most of them....
When i watched the arabic one, i was very surpriced to "learn" that astrolaber is an "arabic invention" ....on top the "clever" university student , explained how the word astrolaber is arabic and means star-holder (either thats Greek and she was totaly wrong , either i suddently started understanding arabic )...later on they explained how the greatest ever invention of the Arabs was the distiller, without which we wouldnt have benzin for our cars and perfumes....so i suppose the distiller the ancient Greeks had was different color and didnt count : .....

.....they seemed pretty desperate to find things to present them like the Arabs created them. The truth is the Arabs read about the distiller and astrolaber, recreated them and then gave them to the rest of Europe through their expantion...so yes, in your place i wouldnt believe BBC on everything...
