How dangerous is typecasting distinct phenotypes for distinct acting roles in the cinema?
For example, take Angelina Jolie, her numerous movies, and her recent movie 'Maleficent'. I haven't seen this movie, but did see the cartoon version as a child. Here Angelina Jolie is typecast as the 'Evil' character. So the audience associates her face with evil, despite her being an actor. Over the course of a lifetime of movies and roles, people mentally associate distinct phenotypes with particular interpretations of them. Art imitates life; and life imitates art.
Most actors/actresses become typecast into "that role" and cannot escape it.
