I was puzzled a number of times when I was still learning English.

In German an "Igel" is a hedgehog and in English "eagle" is a bird. When people talked about majestic flying eagles, all I could think of were hedgehogs with wings.

In German, "Klee" is clover. The English name "Claire" is pronounced similarly. It was a little difficult trying to figure out why a girl would be called "Clover".

As someone else above mentioned, in German poison is called "Gift" and in English it is a present.

    ''Kiss'' means ''pee'' in Swedish.
The swedish word ''hår''(hair) is pronounced exactly the same as the English word ''whore''.
