Most chinese that i know in Dubai are buddhists, though my manchu friend is an atheist. Some chinese told me that they speak Wu, a chinese language that is unintelligible to madarin(All chinese people living in the UAE come from some city called Wenzhou.)

I really am uninformed about Buddha.I know who he is but I don't know what he was all about and what were his agendas.

The dhammapadda was a pretty enjoyable read. Also the "very short introduction" series did a book about Buddhism and it was very informative, I would recommend it!
