Lets be honest Germans are freaking everywhere. They dominate everything they touch. From military to economy to technology.

Economy - the biggest economic powerhouse in europe.
Military - Their military history is one of the greatest in human history. Wehrmacht was possibly the strongest army that has ever been produced by mankind.
Science - 20th century science is basically dominated by germans. They established modern Physics and resposible for creating the modern Rocketry.
Mathematics - Along with French, Germans responsible for the most mathetimacal discoveries and theories. Compare Anglos to them for example. The only notable mathematician from Anglosphere is Isaac Newton.
Technology - German industry sets standard for the whole world. They invented many important inventions such as:
*Modern Computer(Zuse)
*Jet engine(functional)
*Automobile(gazoline)
*Helicopter(Fockel)
*Telephone(Rheis)
*Diesel engine
*Modern Rocket(V2)
Sport - Germans dominate every sport they participate in. Per capita they won most gold medals in Olympic games. 4th times champions of world cup.
Philosophy - Self-explanatory. Germans are basically gods of philosophy.
Music - Greatest composers of all time are all German.
Writers - Goethe, Heine, Kafka, Grimm brothers. etc. Maybe not the best but still Goethe is considered second best writer after Shakespeare.

How can one nation dominate everything? What makes them so exceptionally well-rounded?

This is absolutely not true. There were many proeminent english mathematicians, they may not be known by name to most people but not everyone gets famous like Newton, it is an unfair comparation. G.H. Hardy, Bertrand Russel, Andrew Willes, Alan Turing, Alfred Whitehead, Freeman Dyson.

Not really. They have, as any great nation, their own areas of dominance, due to local characteristics that favour such developments. Mechanical, chemical and electronic engineering from the XIXth c. onwards (in general what we'd just throw into the hardware category) is a well known one for example. The hardware culture is still extremely well implanted in Germany more than anywhere else, it's quite impressive. But they hardly are the best at everything they do, far from it. Nobody is.
