The name I saw was Maldic; maybe it was a typo, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find the page where I first saw it.

I haven't heard of Maldic before either, and looking at this map it would seem Maldini is an Emilian surname?

Yeah, he's probably just italian. There is no Maldic surname.
