My German is solid, my Italian is poor, and my Hindi is OK.

I am going to India this summer to improve my knowledge of Hindi and then I will study Sanskrit there for 9 months.

    1. English - My native language
    2. (2 years experience) Russian - Intermediate ability, I can hold a conversation, but I will make frequent grammatical errors and a boring vocabulary.
    3. (1 years experience) Italian - Enough passive ability to read newspapers
    4. (3 years experience) French - Enough passive ability to read newspapers
    5. (6 Years experience) Latin - enough to translate ancient texts with the aid of a dictionary (Caesar's De Bello Gallico, the Aeneid, Catullus)
My reading abilities in language are great. For Russian, my writing is good too. But my speaking and listening abilities are not.
I voted as two languages because I can only uphold an ok conversation in Russian and English at the moment.

Several. Not out of choice either, as part of work. As some of you might empathise, learning languages for 'working knowledge' means you tend to forget a lot of it very soon even if used regularly for months. That burning desire in your head to retain it ain't there. There was a point where I had to speak basic Russian, German, Hindi and French but I forgot most of all.

    Spanish (native language)
    English (expert - tought myself)
Italian ( can understand 60% when reading, only 30% when listening - this is the only language I'm actively learning)
Portuguese (can understand 90% of it when reading and 60% when listening - never intended to learn it, it's just very similar to spanish)

Note: I selected "2 languages" in the poll, which are the ones I speak and read very well.

Simultaneously bilingual in both English and Wu Chinese, but more English-dominant to some degree. I'm a native speaker of both, but my thought patterns in both languages are discombobulated so my speech can come across as a bit unintelligible to some. There are some concepts I can explain in one language but not in the other. Fully literate and fluent in English with some eccentricities that I haven't pointed out yet. People say that they change personalities when they speak different languages, but I don't know if I can say the same in my case.

I am fluent in Wu because again, I learned it only at home as a mother language, there is very little formal education in it. I'm starting to gain fluency but it hasn't improved by much. I've only spoken to my parents and my close relatives. To me it's very much a family language, not something I would normally associate with the language of society, even though I want to see a resurgence in it in the public atmosphere (as it was hundreds of years ago). I can also write in it and read some modern texts in it, but I recite classical texts or literature in pronunciation. I do need the help of an online dictionary if I want to clarify pronunciations though. There are also words in the that I'm unfamiliar with, so I'm not as fluent in it as compared to English. Because of my bilingualism, I find myself accidentally code-switching to my mother tongue as if it were English.

Mandarin Chinese. Fairly fluent, conversational, I do have a strong regional accent (because of my mother tongue) which also creeps into my English idiolect. Not so good with reading texts (still working on that), but writing is a breeze. I also attended weekly Chinese school when I was from 4 to about 10 and still retained a degree of fluency.

Japanese (intermediate level) I prefer reading and writing in it than actually holding a conversation in it. I can understand Japanese as I'm reading the text or subtitles to get the rough idea.
Korean, Thai, Vietnamese. I'm working piece by piece in these languages, but Japanese and written Mandarin is my main focus for now.

And some smatterings of European languages and that's about it.

I'm supposed to know French too but it just didn't stick lol. Still understand a lot but I suck at forming sentences.
