What proof is there that Ashkenazi Jews are Europeans who converted to Judaism? There's plenty of evidence that Ashkenazi Jews are genetically distant from other Europeans. I've seen plenty of them in my life, they certainly do have that distinct look. You can easily identify a Jew but for those who blend well with other Europeans often have been heavily Europeanized.

Those conversions happened regionally to a greater or lower degree, together with genflow which is genetically hard to distinguish of course.

Judaism is foreign to Europeans and usually those converting to Judaism or Islam, so especially those two foreign monotheistic religions, have more identity to and faithfulness for their new religion, which is an ideological construct as well.

They usually marry people of their new religion, regardless of their exact ethnic background and educate their children primarily under the new dogma. Oftentimes they are even more radical than "born Jews" or "born Muslims", because they overcompensate their foreign origin and had a longer time thinking about their decision, feeling more completely Jewish or Muslim.

The only exception are those which just convert to marry a Jew or Muslim respectively, that might be more of a formality, but in the end - it ends the same way.

Hardly you can stay f.e. "a normal German" and at the same time becoming and practising Jew or Muslim with the new identity.

It's their choice. I fully respect it. Islam is quite open to converts, by the way, and some secularized 'Christians' have found in Islam a traditional religion quite unlike the Protestantism that they're used to.

Islam. Judaism. It ain't European whatever way you look at it. These spiritually lost and confused people are still European people mind, but they simply aren't "one of us" anymore.

It's simple. Once you convert to Islam or Judaism while you are European you stop being European and you betray your kin and (spiritual) lineage. Why? Because Judaism and Islam are hostile towards Europe and her traditions.
