The civilized world, including the Middle East, is never going to accept them as a legitimate political entity, especially because of their brutality and war crimes. The international community is going to work together until they are thoroughly defeated. This is going to be a major blow to global jihadism and Islamism in general. Most of the most dedicated Islamist fighters from over the world are already there, and most of them will probably get killed eventually. Which is a win-win situation for the rest of the world: concentrate them in one place and then annihilate them totally.

Sure, but everywhere injustices are committed for the sake of greed, or power people will rise up against this, and in very religious areas this sort of uprising will often take the cloak of religion along with it, so the truth is that so long as there are injustices, there will always be people fighting those and unfortunately when this is coupled with religious extremism it makes for a very bad combination. In order to end Islamic terrorism we need to end the root causes of all terrorism which are the grievances that these people have to fight against in the first place. Interventionism being one of them, exploitation being another.

I don't know. It seems like more people are being recruited from outwith Iraq & Syria . It will have a knock on effect. There are folk fighting from Britain, Chechnya, Bosnia, Libya etc.. Who will have links back home.

They can send how many they want - they will be no match for a US-Kurdish-Turkish-Iraqi coalition.

With every significant defeat, Islamists will become less optimistic about their chances and think twice before they do something stupid.

The ousting of Morsi in Egypt also effectively spelled the end of non-violent democratic political Islam.

I wish that was the case, but look how long religion has been with us. It seems that no matter what the advancements in science and understanding religious people simply find a way to shut off the logical part of their when it comes to religion. I sincerely do believe in a future where the world will be atheistic, I just don't think it will come fast enough.

The US went into Iraq & couldn't change the 'mentality'. If anything they exasperate the situation. We have went from Saddam > Al Qaeda >IS ..United States couldn't stop that.

The Turkish aren't bothered about the Kurds & would have happily seen Kobane fall.

The potential mistake that IS could make is to bring Iran into a Civil war.

Really Muslim nations need to sort out Muslim problems. For long term sake.

Christianity went through a much-needed reformation. Islam is behind, but I suspect something similar will happen there as knowledge increases.

I agree, but we need to bring up the educational standards everywhere. You see when this limited mentality meets religion anywhere on the planet it makes for a bad combination, Christianity in the west is vastly reformed true, but in places in Africa, China and Korea you have violent radical Christian groups which parallel the radical Islamic groups in many ways. The problem is that we are NO where near a future in which religion will disappear, nor are we near a time when educational levels will vastly increase throughout the developing world. However, I do take solace in the fact that the majority of the world does appear to be sane and non radical.
