Real Anglo-saxons lived many centuries ago, nowhere people are mainly of "anglo-saxon" descent, Its usually refered Anglo-saxon = Native English speaking, not related to race.

What about George W Bush? another example of what someone would consider as "American looking" and not from anywhere else? Would he pass easier for Brit/Irish or German? I think he has some Irish looks, but not completly, you still can tell he is a white american.

He has an Irish influence, but something looks 'off' and uniquely American about him.

I mean phenotype wise, remember most ancestry is self reported, which means a nut to reliability of what the real ancestry is.

If you see a random crowd of White americans from all over the country, would you think of them being physically wise closer to Brits/Irish or the Germans.

The language is, but the phenotype distinction between English and German people is, if anything, even greater than the (imo much overrated) phenotype distinction between Spanish and Italian people, as I discuss here.
