Yeah maybe. I have the same surname as my Portuguese family. It is more common in Spain, but there are still many Portuguese with that surname. It is Galician in origin.

Why don't you change it to a uber Scandinavian one?

I think it's silly to change one's name for the sake of changing one's name.

That said, because I'm traditionalist in many ways, if I end up marrying a girl in Scandinavia, I may consider taking her last name to help completely integrate myself.

Which is ironic, seeing as that's also the opposite of what is traditional, and may even seem like the most feminist thing to do.

Where my grandad's from is about 40 miles from here my surname has been for like a thousand years. So in that place it's common.
