I think for South Yorkshire this will be an issue if you want a united Mercia. Yorkshire people have a mindframe that they are from Yorkshire, I did not know Mercia existed until I read the evolution of the english language. Either way though, I like the Mercia flag, I'd be happy to fly that.

1. What's the story behind your avatar, it seems to be a symbol, why that blond with white gloves?
2. would Mercia have open borders? Sheffield is very close to the border of Derbyshire.

Historically Derbyshire marks the northern border of Mercia. It has been suggested that Mosborough and Barlborough on either side of the river Rother in northern Derbyshire were the sites of border forts, though no actual archaeology has been found to confirm this.
