teacher with the class from hell. Possibly the funniest anime I've yet seen.



Black Lagoon - Enjoyably violent and amoral, great stuff.



Initial D - Great series about a young up-and-coming streetracer.

Yes of course Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood(which is almost done), both are very different and complement each other. They are also both great, so watch them. The first series has better music and character development, Brotherhood has a better overall story and pacing though.

Another good, similarly styled one would be Claymore, although the last episodes are horrible including the ending.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was sweet, though it went a bit crazy at the end, but I liked that they kind of amended it with End of Evangelion.

Agreed. I'm really excited about the Rebuild, but I don't want to watch it until it's complete.

Robotech is worth a mention because Anime started going mainstream with Western audiences when this was released in the 1980's. It was all the rage when I was a kid in South Africa.

It's a somewhat confusing edit of 3 unrelated Japanese animes (Macross, Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada) into one series done by Harmony Gold, the producer who was responsible for adapting / translating it.



I really liked Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, great if you're into rock music.




Oh yeah... how could I forget... the original Ghost In The Shell anime is awesome. I didn't think much of the subsequent series though.

Also if you are into sci fi don't forget to check out the original Gundam serries, yeah it's pretty old but still very enjoyable.

Also the OVA's and ofcourse Zeta Gundam.

Robotech

I remember this "series."

One could Transformers into this, as well as Power Rangers as live action "anime."

The only Robotech story arc that I liked, and still like, is the first one (aka Macross in Japan). I loved Captain Gloval and Roy Fokker, two very memorable characters that I enjoyed a great deal and whose deaths were something I'd never before seen in a cartoon.



He was always smoking his pike.

(Ensign Porter has caught Captain Gloval trying to light his pipe on the bridge of the SDF-1 Macross)
Ensign Porter: "Captain, there's no smoking on the bridge!"
Captain Gloval: (puts away the match) "Oh, of course not, Sammy. I was just holding it."

And since Captain Gloval was Russian, you'd hear a "bozhe moy" every so often.
