I always see news articles about Brit's being obsessed with tanning, but when in Europe I would definitely say it was the Italians that were really laying out there in full force. I can tell you that Americans are pretty obsessed with it too.

Italians and Greeks, especially italian americans. Pretty sure Italian Americans are at higher risk of skin cancer than most here because they are tan addicts.

In the Caribbean I am in the sun for 15 minutes here and there, then the umbrella. you can walk around and get tan. Italians own a resort in La Romana DR, and lots of Italians vacation there they are in the sun a lot. I see lots of Germans in the sun for long hours also.

The ocean temperatures down there are awesome to experience. The experience of New Jersey beaches will never compare. I can spend hours in that mid-80s ocean water (and I have done so). It's never that warm here. We're lucky to get mid-70s. But I can't complain too much. At least the ocean is swimmable here for about three or four months of the year.
