Ah, you should have had three brothers and many local friends. About 12 of us had a variety of countries, sometimes more than one per person, sometimes people would band together and form federations and empires. Over around a 12 year period, the history of our little world continued. We had politics, war, international sport and by the end political terrorism and ethnic conflicts. It was great.

The last time my mother destroyed my lego was in the Great Earthquake of 1604, but recovery was swift, and it gave way to the Golden Age of the Second Republic.

I did similar things to what you've done. Except, it was a solo campaign and no one really played this dory of stuff with me.
Before my Lego town, I used to construct enormous cities with every material and resource I could find around my home. Using q tips for the street lamps and putting a a yellow Lego cube on top of it. I even applied arts and crafts to my creations, especially building a house out of simple paper and using Barbie doll house furniture to put in. I collected small toy cars for my city and even crafting people out of paper and coloring them. I always folded the bottom part of the paper people to put glue or tape so they could stand on the surface when I decorate my city with inhabitants walking in the streets. My city was detailed and organized. I had a government, law enforcement, fire department, medical facilities like a clinic and a hospital, and any building that was required for my city to strive. I role played my paper figures as a business man like a father and a husband who works in a commercial building. I even had wars, terrorist attacks, riots, etc. then, I dissembles it and discarded a lot of stuff and moved to more professional things like Legos and minecraft. All of this led to my ambitions of becoming an engineer.

Heroic. I like you already. I did that for a very brief time but moved onto Lego at an early age. We also incorporated Megablocks into our universe. At its peak, there was a global population of 525-625. World War One briefly knocked that down by about half.

Yes! I also forgot to include mega blocks. There are many more I could list and inform you, but I can't remember a lot at the top of my head right now as it was a decade ago. I even played sim city games when I was younger, especially it taught me how to be a mayor and plan cities. Also, it taught me the meaning of spending funds on ordinances, how tax people by the quantities they owe me, watching out for my city budget and what surplus I'll earn at the end of the year. I even applied this to my physical cities in real life. It was pretty beneficial.

I never got into sims but the only games I ever played were games where you controlled a civilisation, not first-person shooters; mainly Age of Empires, sometimes Pharaoh.

My young brother loves first shooter games, whereas I'm not that found. After all, the word sim is short for simulation and the games you played are considered simulation games. So we also have another thing in common: we both played simulation civilization games where you run as some leader controlling an empire, city, whatever.
