I also just thought I would point out that most of the actors from Jersey Shore were not even Italian/had Italian ancestry. Only a couple of them did.

I agree. And this is the reason why there is a lack of understanding between Italian-Americans and Italians. Those Hollywood's movies tell the story of Italian-Americans, but the films that tell the story of Italians and Italy are others.

There is a book that was written several years ago that explores stereotypes of Italian-Americans and ethnic identity. It's called Were You Always an Italian? by Maria Laurino.
