Guiding principle

Key to understanding the reasons why sentient beings do the things they do, is the main principle or value that they hold true and more important than any other.

I would like to assess the fiber and quality of posters here, by asking them the simple following question: What is the guiding principle of your life?

If an explanation is needed, I refer to the one concept, notion or idea that matters the most to you, that can often be the reason that explains a particular decision being made, and that may be a cornerstone for a good number of projects and endeavours you may want to develop.

Examples of what I am asking for are plentiful. Some are directed towards national pride or patriotism, some towards religious devotion, some towards family, friends and loved ones, some towards something else entirely.

Self determination; acting in accordance to one's own individual judgment. No one else can define your life besides yourself; only you know your own motivations, likes and wants for yourself in life. Only thing you need to do is define your own meaning in accordance to how you want to live it.

This is first and foremost rule for the wise conduct of life.
