Default How widely spoken is English in your country?

This is obviously aimed at those who don't live in or come from countries where English is spoken as a first language.

Very. Entire Young generation speaks at least decent English. Elders also know some because of massive tourism (at least in cities and costal areas). US music, movies and TV shows are never dubbed and combined with starting to learn it early in school, I think Croatia is country with highest percentage of English speakers in former Eastern Europe. (one of)

Uusally people from small countries speak better English because their own language is pretty insgnificant outside their borders so they are forced to learn at least one foreign language.

It's pretty the same here in Portugal.

Thank God we never dub things.
We also have a lot of tourism, specially from England.
We love to practise our English with tourists.

Don't let English flood your language with anglicisms. It's basically a killer language which devours other ones.

Most Dutch are able to speak at least 'some' English but it's heavily overestimated because I know a lot of people here can't even hold a simple conversation in English let alone write correctly. Most educated people here in The Netherlands actually speak rather good English on average, especially the newer generations (after the 90's)

I think an estimation of 60 % would be a better guess as for be able to hold a conversation and also be able to properly write more than a few sentences without making too many errors.

75 % is able to understand enough English to understand simple questions or most MTV songs

I believe that most people under 60 can at least communicate with tourists.
If anyone has any tips on achieving immortality, pm me.
