the south had far less immigrants. southern new England for example is different than what it was 100 years ago. it looks nothing like what it use to be. Immigrants actually ruined the local culture here and it has been replaced with afram culture, Caribbean culture, Asian culture, etc... all cultures other than the original founding stock. The racial stock is very different. WASPs are a minority here. Maine in the north is a different story along with Vermont and rural upper state new York.

Isn't the upstate NY in majority German American rather than WASP? Western part overwhelmingly was last time I visited.
