It is very common to think that sodomy is massive and spread amongst Arabs of all times; however reality is much more complex, even though both Christians and Muslims start from the same Jewish background of condemnation and radical punishment. To my mind, although in their culture, social repression and discredict have not reached the degrees that were reached in ours, it cannot be asserted that homosexuality is, or has ever been considered either correct or stadardized, with the exception of any isolated community.

In Arabic, the words that designate homosexuals have a pejorative sense and there is a global rejection of their society to whom point to themselves explicitly as such (homo).
