Much less so than it used to be, that's for sure. They take their saints days and festivals very seriously, but as far as the Church's teachings regarding sex are concerned absolutely not.

I guess no one take religious teachings about sex seriously or follow them,apart from Iran;Pakistan and so on.

I'd say France. A phanomenon like Maggie Thatcher would have been impossible in France.

With that being said, the Leftist movement in France was more powerful in the 1930's and 1970's. Now that Macron's centrist movement federates everybody, the Left in France is moribund.

Entirely depends on what you'd call « left-wing ». Historically France has been fertile ground for political and philosophical liberalism, while the shopkeepers across the sea made themselves champions of economical liberalism.
