How do Sicilians perceive the Aragonese ''occupation''? Has Aragon contributed a lot to the Sicilian culture and ''genetic pool''?

The FVG one is not bad, as well (although suffered some "uglyfication"
The Apulian one (my region; esp. with the "Regione Puglia" inscription added to it!) looks cheaper, but still not as bad as Calabria, Basilicata, Marche, Umbria (more pearls!)
God, we've been great at screwing up regional symbols it seems..

Gene pool no. Very little. A handful of surnames and a couple of towns named after them.
Mostly, the Aragonese (and later Spanish) period brought stability, a lot of building, and some crops from the new world.
The periods that people talk about the least favorably are the Anjou and Bourbon.

It's better to stay with the "trinacria" (a very old symbol) as odd as it may appear to some..
The eagle theme is just way overused

No flag change would be approved by a majority. Sicilians and the trinacria symbol are synonymous. Very proud of our flag.
Sicilian nationalists use
But if Sicily were an independent state I think they would not wish to change the flag. I think the nationalist flag is more a political flag.
