I'm learning tibetan and its harder than chinese and japanese

So I got a new book called colloquial tibetan.I had always wanted to learn tibetan.I find tibet so beautiful.I thought it would eb easier than mandarin or japanese,but its not.

heres why :


tibetic is a tonal oriented tongue.like mandarin.while toens are not that hard,and westerners fear them for no reason,theys till change the meaning of words.basically dont learn tibetan to runa way from mandarin!



Grammar:


while Japanese is easy in phonetic terms,it has a very hard grammar,almost alien.tieetan grammar also has alot of honorifics.its not simple grammar like mandarin or indonesian .



Spelling :while this isnt a problem with transliteration,tibetan words are not pronounced how they are written many times.in this regard it is similar to french .




sound :tibetan is not a ugly language.it sounds like turkish or iranian to my ears .

however mandarin is a much more beautiful language.almost like poetry.japanese also sounds more beautiful.



overall it is to do.it isnt impossible to learn but don't have high hopes of being flabbergasted .

What Tibetan language are you learning though? There's like 53 varieties.

I'd guess Tibetan to be of the same difficulty level as learning Chinese because they are of the same language family...

central dialect.

chinese is easier,imo.tibetan and chinese sound nothing alike to me.tibetan sounds like a tonal turkish.I speak some turkish and they def give me the same vibe .

What is your benefit to knowing that specific language?When someone learns a language its for two simple reasons,either because he wants to move to the native area of the language or become a translator.

I'm reading a bunch of literature about Tantra for my thesis. The Sanskrit flows so well, but then when Tibetan is referenced in transliteration it looks like sGrob zBork fThrag bDrog

They belong to the same phylum, not to the same family. So that's like thinking that Persian, Russian and English should be alike in their difficulty level.
