Asatru Heathen Temple to be Built in Iceland to Commemorate the Norse Gods

The temple that is supposed to be build is 400 square metres but that is only the first stage. The Asatru Community has delayed the building of their clubhouse for ten years, but when that construction is finished, the building of the Asatru Community will be 800 square metres.

The Asatru Community was formally founded on the first day of summer in the year of 1972 og a year later, on May the 16th in the year of 1973, it was recognised as a legal, religous community. At the website of the community, it is stated that its purpose is the enhancing of the belief in the old Nordic gods and managing the religious service concurrent with it and the community wants to achieve this by educational club activities, not by a mission.

Can't hurt really. After all, everybody needs a hollow distraction from daily routine.

A nice idea, however, 99% of earth's religions are out-of-date and need revision.

The future will include space travel, exploration, and colonization. New Age cults without these aspects really have no authentic vision.

Plus very few of these cults really have new ideas concerning philosophy, morality, tradition, etc.

What I can't find is where the money to pay for it is coming from. Are Odinists from other countries contributing, is this solely funded by the few neopagans in Iceland, or is the Icelandic/municipal government paying for this temple?

This well help a lot, foreigners dont understand the number of people potentially returning this, it is easily hundereds of thousands in Nordic countries.

It would help more if they didn't invent their own New Age bullshit and stayed true to the real traditions.

Itsabout going back to our roots...That is what matters, and every step is important. Christianity or any other foreign religions didnt provide the European people their spiritual needs. Paganism might just be the answer...

North Europeans are at heart ancestor worshippers and believe in a mythical connection between them and the surrounding nature.
That is the common spiritual core shared by Celts, Germanics, Slavs, Balts and Finnic tribes.
