Wales has a load of people born in England. So there's a diluted accent in places, more likely in middle class.
OK let me explain. I extremely seldom if ever hear any Americans with pseudo-English accents, unless they've been living in the UK for years, such as the journalist Janet Daley. Even posh Americans still sound clearly, well, American, such as Christine Baranski. By contrast, quite a few Australians - even those who have always lived there, such as the late Anne Haddy who I posted above - sound decidedly more Vanessa Redgrave than Dame Edna Everage.

Likewise, although there are individual cases of Scottish and Irish people with very Anglicised accents, such as Andrew Marr, Colin Montgomerie and Iain Duncan-Smith, they seem to be very few and far between, from what I can tell. By contrast, quite a few Welsh people do sound outright English, even those from smaller towns and villages. This is especially (but by no means uniquely) the case with actors and TV presenters.

There's a massive amount of people in Wales of middle class English backgrounds. Like I said.. Many don't identify as Welsh at all & has a big influence.

While 73% of the population was born in Wales, 5% were born outside the UK, up from 1% in 2001.

The number of English-born people in Wales has also risen slightly over the past decade to 21%.

For every 20 people in Wales, 15 would be born in Wales, four born in England and one born somewhere else.

Most Aussies have British or Irish ancestry so how can they be wannabes?

Before WWII Australians considered the UK to be their mother country.

I must say the British accent on girls is sexy as fuck. I prefer American English.

Yes, but they are (supposedly) a separate and unique country in their own right now.

I dont think the Welsh are English wannabies. And Scottish and South African accents are worst than Welsh one

I've never found Australians acting as English wannabies. There are loads of English people here and so many Australians have English ancestry so I don't understand why they would be wannabies. I've always found Kylie's accent a bit irritating but she has spent a lot of time in the UK but others that have don't have any English type accents. I find Kylie's accent a bit affected. Some Australians do have a more refined accent but I don't think they are copying English. It is just that the Australian accent has some similarity with the English accent anyway and when people speak with less of an Aussie strine it can sound a bit more like a more refined English accent.
