    Default Are you a solipsist?

Do you consider yourself a solipsist?

What is your opinion on cogito ergo sum(Descartes). The act of doubting one's own existence is PROOF that one does indeed exist and has a mind to do the doubting. External minds outside our own can't be verified, and what we see around us, the "people" we see in this world could very well be unreal and the working of some malignant evil scientist or demon, or a deceiving God whose sole purpose is to fool us into thinking the world we view in our personal minds and eyes is actually reality when it is not, as Descartes put it.

So what is your view, are you a solipsist, the belief that only one's self and own mind is real and everything is an illusion, or 2) The world I view with my eyes is most definitely real 100% sure, or 3) Can't be sure

No and yes. Metaphysical (ontological) solipsism begs the question—how is it that your own mind, the most proper, basic property of being fools itself? I am an epistemological solipsist in the sense that everything empirical can be doubted while the existence of my own mind is undebatable.
