I don't think of chocolate as candy. I like what used to be called toffee cigarettes but which are now called candy sticks with no pink end (political correctness again).

Hard caramel coated in flavoured icing sugar - designed to decay the teeth as quickly as possible.

The cool sweets in my school days were some gob-stoppers called Jawbreakers ('gob' is a slang word for mouth).
EDIT: I notice now you posted Jawbreakers also called Magic Balls
