Portugal had five capitals during its nearly 900 years of existence: Guimarăes, Coimbra, Lisboa, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Angra do Heroísmo (Azores). I do not see a reason to change the capital but if it was not Lisbon it would probably be Porto.

Not really. Warsaw is the third capital city of Poland, and there's no reason why to change it. Warsaw is the biggest city in Poland, located in relatively safe place (if location of Poland can be considered safe at first place), and it has its history. Not very optimistic though.

Best place for politicians is 1/2 the country away which is where they are. Thank god. Nasty damned basement dwellers.
Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.

No way, I prefer London remaining both England's capital city and the UK's capital city too. London is in the world's top five wealthiest GDP cities and has the world's largest financial districts, the largest choice of shops, flagship and designer stores, and a vast choice of markets too. London has the worlds oldest shopping mall too (The Burlington Arcade.)

York used to be the capital city of England, but there's no competition with York today!

There's also more choice of musicals and theatres to watch in London's Theatreland district than any other city in the world. London also ranks in the world's top ten student cities in the QS International Student Guide, and London has Europe's largest concentration of royal academies, colleges and universites (some of which are ranked in the top ten of the world.)

It's the main entry point for millions of tourists and students, the head offices for many businesses, and full of grand designer and flagship stores, grand hotels, over 200 museums and art galleries, over 70 world cuisines, over 300 languages spoken in the city, loads of world culture and events, state-of-the-art sports stadiums and music arenas, loads of restaurants, major rail stations and airports and Eurostar, and where the majority of the UK's GDP is generated. It's also full of history and modernity, and was once the capital of the British Empire too.

London is also in one of the world's top three film location capitals (along with NYC and LA,) plus it's the shopping capital of the world with more money spent annually on shopping in London (both online and in the stores too) than any other city in the world, and London has the most choice of stores too, plus London is one of the big 4 leading fashion capitals of the world, the garden capital of the world, and the European capital of digital technology.

London was the first city in the world to be industrialised during the Industrial Revolution. It's a very innovative and cosmopolitan city. This is where the stylish V&A, British Museum, Tate, London Eye, Wembley Stadium, Regents Park, Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges, Libetery, the Royal Albert Hall, Covent Garden, the 250 year old UNESCO World Heritage Kew Gardens, Chelsea Flower Show, the grand Natural History Museum, The Science Museum, Theatreland, Somerset House, etc, can all be found. Oxford Street is Europe's busiest shopping street with over 300 shops. Then there's the historic jewellery quarter in London's Hatton Garden, Bond Street, Regent Street, Mayfair, Knightsbridge, Sloane Square, etc.

London had the world's first ever underground rail network (London Tube), plus it's the second most extensive network (after the Shanghai metro.) London also has the world's deepest underground network, as the city goes deep under the ground.

London was voted as the most fun city in Europe by Tripadvisor with over 300 attractions in the city.

London is an Alpha++ graded city (London and New York are the only two cities in the world with this status, although London was a major trade, business and financial city before NYC even existed - plus London has the world's second largest flood barrier in place (the largest when it was built and designed though) - unlike NYC that suffered from serious flooding in recent years! London is conveniently situated inbetween eastern and western time zones for business, and London's Richmond Park is 3 times the size of Central Park in NYC, and London has more choice of theatre shows and muscials in the West End than Broadway has, and London has the world's largest financial districts, Eurostar undersea rail, etc.) There's over 50 places named after London in various continents worldwide, but I only love the original as the others are dull in comparison to the real London.

The City of Westminster in Central London is home to Buckingham Palace (the Queen's London residence,) Downing Street (the Prime Minister and high government members homes, the Houses of Parliament, and a large number of companies. Many leading global corporations have chosen to establish their global or European headquarters in the City of Westminster. Mayfair and St. James's within the City of Westminster also have a large concentration of hedge fund and private equity funds. The West End is known as the Theatre District and is home to many of the leading performing arts businesses. Soho and its adjoining areas house a concentration of media and creative companies. Oxford Street is one of the leading shopping destinations in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Westminster

The Prime Meridian is located in London's Greenwich - 'where world time begins'.

London is the only city in the world to have hosted the International Olympics 3 times, plus London won the bid to host the 2017 IAAF World Athletic Championships.

An influential American magazine has named London the global capital of the 21st century.

The new issue of New York magazine has paid homage to London, claiming the financial, cultural and culinary benefits of London now tower over those of New York.

London Listeni/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom.[3][4] Standing on the River Thames in the south east of the island of Great Britain, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium.[5] London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries. Since at least the 19th century, "London" has also referred to the metropolis around this core, historically split between Middlesex, Essex, Surrey, Kent, and Hertfordshire,[6][7][8] which today largely makes up Greater London,[9][10][note 1] governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.[11][note 2][12]

As a Nylonkong metropolis, London is a leading global city,[13][14] in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism, and transport.[15][16][17] It is one of the world's leading financial centres[18][19][20] and has the fifth- or sixth-largest metropolitan area GDP in the world.[note 3][21][22] London is a world cultural capital.[23][24][25] It is the world's most-visited city as measured by international arrivals[26] and has the world's largest city airport system measured by passenger traffic.[27] London is the world's leading investment destination,[28][29][30] hosting more international retailers[31][32] and ultra high-net-worth individuals[33][34] than any other city. London's universities form the largest concentration of higher education institutes in Europe,[35] and a 2014 report placed it first in the world university rankings. According to the report London also ranks first in the world in software, multimedia development and design, and shares first position in technology readiness.[36] In 2012, London became the only city to host the modern Summer Olympic Games three times.[37]

London has a diverse range of people and cultures, and more than 300 languages are spoken in the region.[38] Its estimated mid-2015 municipal population (corresponding to Greater London) was 8,673,713,[2] the largest of any city in the European Union,[39] and accounting for 12.5 per cent of the UK population.[40] London's urban area is the second most populous in the EU, after Paris, with 9,787,426 inhabitants at the 2011 census.[41] The city's metropolitan area is one of the most populous in Europe with 13,879,757 inhabitants,[note 4][42] while the Greater London Authority states the population of the city-region (covering a large part of the south east) as 22.7 million.[43] London was the world's most populous city from around 1831 to 1925.[44]

London contains four World Heritage Sites: the Tower of London; Kew Gardens; the site comprising the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey, and St Margaret's Church; and the historic settlement of Greenwich (in which the Royal Observatory, Greenwich marks the Prime Meridian, 0° longitude, and GMT).[45] Other famous landmarks include Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, and The Shard. London is home to numerous museums, galleries, libraries, sporting events and other cultural institutions, including the British Museum, National Gallery, Natural History Museum, Tate Modern, British Library and West End theatres.[46] The London Underground is the oldest underground railway network in the world

No. There's a symbolical meaning as to why Ankara remained the capital instead of Istanbul after the declaration of the Turkish Republic.
