Caucasian is an even broader term. Like mongoloid [which encompasses aboriginal americans] or negroid [encompasses people who are primarily of African origins]. It isn't rocket science. It is what it is.

Anyway, in the U.S.A the term basically deviates from NW Europeans IMO. I still get asked...mostly by minorities..if i'm "White" or not.

look up the definition and who coined it. one could claim cars, toys, and airplanes are social constructs because they are existential to our eye sockets. they are there and that's how society wishes to perceive them.

Do you think gender is a social construct? Horses? I mean one could say yes or no to the answers.

However the term race has always been a broad term. It is anthropological term and has never had anything to do with biology [a science later discovered]. Race is a way of dividing various global populations. You are right it is not really a useful term unless describing a particular group of people from a particular geographical area.

That is simply the meaning of it. It really has no other meaning. Unless ofcourse we wish to go down the 'who is more aryan' road [which is ofcourse a social construct and less realistic].

Which proves that being white meant nothing to the immigrants as it meant nothing to those harassing them.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason they were discriminated against had more to do with cultural and religious reasons than 'racial'?

The reason this happened was due to the fact that the definition of who could be a citizen here were people strictly of European origins. The Nordicists and KKK people [nativist crowds] clashed with the immigrants for religious and cultural reasons. [One could make the claim it was also ethnic but not in the case for down south as much].

Dude its so easy. I hate giving history lessons on something that is beyond obvious for people here who are supposedly superior to me in terms of intelligence.

The modern definition is basically the Stormfront definition....Of European ancestry within the last 500 years and Christian or of Christian background.
