The Sámi are usually described as the ingenious people to northern Europe. This makes sense to a certain extent, but not fully.
It does not make sense if we go by the linguistic point of view. Scandos are apparently not indigenous because they speak an Indo-European language while Sámis speak pre-IE. That is wrong as the Sámi language does not predate the Indo-European. Uralic and IE languages arrived at roughly the same time. If a language defines your identity that much then Sámis are no more indigenous than their Uralic speaking neighbors the Finns, who are not seen as "indigenous Europeans"
