What are the roots of Judaism and Christianity?
Long ago, Israelite/Abrahamite Semites in the Middle East, copied many ideas from Ancient Greek Hellenism. This was back in the time of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. One of the revolutionary philosophical ideas of ancient times, was idealism. In Plato's Republik, the idea of "Utopia" or perfect city arose. People thought of a "future world" were everything would be perfect or "better" than now. This was one of the monumental shifts from which many ideologies originated, to today. For example the idea of "Progress", betterment, improvement, "Post-human", "Trans-human", Humanity, etc. are all ideas which originally came from ideas of "Perfection" and Utopia.
Utopia is the etymological root and core idea of a "Kingdom". (Perfect/Ideal Realm)
In the future, everything can be "better". There can be pleasure, instead of pain, in the future. And so many people are willing to sacrifice their entire lives even, for the hope (Faith) to have a "better life". Pain and suffering now, in exchange for pleasure and bliss in the afterlife.
It's obvious that these ancient ideas inspired most Christian ideas, such as Heaven (reward in afterlife). Even Islam has copied this idea by promising 72 virgins in Heaven for Martyrs. All of these ideas come from the same source/theology.
But the rise of Judæo-Christian Identity has specific roots. Slavery was very commonplace and normal in the ancient era. In fact slavery still exists today throughout the world, but through different terms and wording, "Wage Labor" (in US capitalism).
Judaism came about as a resistance against slavery. Judaism appealed to slaves, who lived hard, unrewarding lives, full of pain, misery, and endless suffering. There was no hope for slave castes. So slaves regularly rebelled and caused civil chaos. This was back around 200BC. With the advent and spread of Judaism, and Christianity, in the Southern European Civilization (Judaism from Israel), the slave castes all immediately liked the ideas.
A "future world" was the appeal. Slaves could be happier in life, believing and having faith in a "better tomorrow". Thus judaism originally was created and spread through this manner.
Christianity began as a mixture and conflict in the ancient Roman Empire. The Christ figure is seen as the "Epitome of Humanity". Today, to be "human" is to be "Christlike", according to most western people. To be "human" is to be humble, servile, civil, passive, and non-combative. It entails following the rules of civilization. This is a different context than Jewish "faithfulness". Christianity was necessary in the Roman Empire to instill order and peace.
Judaism and Christianity eventually mixed and combined ideologies, analogous to the ethnic & racial intermarriages between Roman citizens and Semitic Middle Eastern peoples in the ancient Byzantium Empire. The two major religons combined into one.
The "Christ" figure is the leader or "master of slaves" of Jews and Christians. He is how a person ought to be (within civilization). He is contrary and opposite of a (Northern European) Barbarian/Protestant. This is the difference between a "civil" person or society, opposed to barbarous, hunter-gather, warlike society.
