Perhaps "significant minority" wasn't the best way to phrase it. I just meant to say that I find it interesting that even though the vast majority of people in the region are highly African or triracial, there are still a (small) number of people who are highly European (with only a small amount of Native and no African ancestry).

Because Colombia (and espescially the Pacific coast) hasn't received much recent immigration, it is likely that those families have been there for many generations. But despite that, they are very far removed from the bulk of the population. That suggests a high degree of endogamy that I found a bit surprising/interesting.

The correlation between ancestry and color in two cities of Northeast Brazil with contrasting ethnic compositions

The study says "for most approaches to ancestry estimation in admixed populations, a significant number of pseudo-ancestors have to be included for them to perform well". So it seems the numbers below are the most accurate.

US Samples: Latinas from the Bay Area. (Most likely predominately Mexican/Central American)

Chilean Samples: Collected from the "Sótero del Río Hospital, affiliated with the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile".

Half of the Latinos in San Francisco are Central Americans. Oakland and San Jose Latinos are mostly of Mexican origin.
Who knows from what cities those studies are coming from.

Hospital Sótero del Río is in Puente Alto, a working-class commune.

For instance, "try to AVOID the following comunas: La Legua, Lo Espejo, La Pintana, Puente Alto, La Cisterna, San Joaquin, El Bosque, San Ramon and La Granja unless you know exactly where you are going. "

I'm just making this clear because the "affiliated with PUC" might seem like it's somehow posh, when in reality it just means students from PUC do their professional practice there.. but they're the doctors not the patients. I know because I study at PUC.

According to wikipedia, it treats more patients than any other hospital in Chile so I guess it makes sense to base a study there. From what I've seen, most studies seem to place the average for Santiago at ˜55% European so this study seems to be pretty consistent.

Yes it does, Puente Alto is the biggest commune in Chile. Just be aware that this is a public hospital located in a fairly deprived area.

    I don't agree with Santiago being 55% European though, I think it's rather 60%.

Many of those studies overrepresented the working-class btw.
