I'm adding a few cast members of The Magdalene Sisters (great movie BTW, highly recommended):

Yes that is a great movie. Quite unsettling to watch but unfortunately not a very nice part of Irish history.

Philomena (2013) with Judi Dench deals with the asylums too. And while we're at it, I also liked Jimmy's Hall and '71.

Irish women are very good looking, and in fact are every bit as good-looking IMO as people claim Swedish women to be. Also, they look very Northern. Not sure how I'd classify the lot of them, though.

I often think there is a lot of bias with some of the polls on the internet. You will find that Swedish women and Brazilians are always up the top and considered the most beautiful. I've seen loads of posts on the internet that say Irish women are ugly. Most people have never been to the countries but just go on what others have said so it just becomes like a meme. The Irish though are most known for their friendliness and quick wit.

Some Irish actresses from a bygone era.

    Geraldine Fitzgerald

Maureen O'Sullivan (the original Jane in the Tarzan movies). She was from Boyle, Co Roscommon where my father is from. She is the mother of Mia Farrow.

    Maureen O'Hara

Some of them look like they're from South Boston. Some of them look like they're from Charleston. Some of them look uniquely Irish. BTW, did Maureen O'Sullivan also have English and Scottish ancestry? Both Maureens are beautiful.

I think your photo sets are more realistic than the ones on other forums. The other sets make it seem like all Irish women look like Andrea Corr, Victoria Beckham, and Catherine Zeta Reticuli Jones. You know what I mean. They're all female versions of Colin Farrell. I found one old thread that claimed that Catholics tend to have dark features while Protestants tend to have light features. I kid you not! LOL You're fighting an uphill battle.

My photos are mostly of different sports teams. There are some from Co Carlow and Dublin and some from Co Kerry, Co Tipperary and Co Cork. I might add more if I can be bothered. The majority of Irish are predominantly blue eyed and freckled with hair that is light brown to medium brown. A lot of anthro forums and people appear to be agenda driven. That's why I think there should be group photos and not specifically of actors and bands. The Irish are a north-west European population and that is what they look like.

I also bet most of those people posting those photos aren't Irish and just post well-known people.

I've never heard that Maureen had any other ancestry but Irish. In Boyle there are lots of Scots names so she could have some distant Scots ancestry. My father also had a Scots name in his ancestry. I would presume a lot of Irish and Scots have ancestry from both. There is a lot of strong connections especially with the Western Isles and West Scotland in general.
