    is it Polish? Czech? It sounds Slavic.

    the names Чапаско and Хапаско do not exist in Ukraine. see here

    the -ko ending is Ukrainian, but in this case is either an extremely rare and unheard name either a coincidence

    I am Ukranian and it sounds a bit strange to my ears

    Probably misspelled. A lot of names got changed when coming over to the US. There must be something similar though, or it could be Belarusian.

    It sounds like a Slavic name to me. The "-sko" reminds me of names that end with "-ski" and those are usually Polish.
