Recently I watched the match Scotland - Germany. Indeed, in comparison to ethnic Germans, Scots have in the team less lighthaired players. It's amazing that a nation which has its place in northern Europe has so few blondes in percentage.

Scottish people are know for their red or reddish hair.

Dan Kelly (Irish) fathered eight children with Barbara-Ann Suokko (Finnish + Tyrolean). Some have blond hair, some brown. Paddy Kelly, who is the most Irish looking, has dark brown hair and blue eyes.

It is already a known fact, that many Irish people who are brown-haired whether light or dark brown are also blue-eyed. There is actually no nation which can rival Ireland at that characteristic. Additionally outside of Scotland, Wales, Northern England, no nation can rival in redheadedness. No one is saying there aren't dark-haired people in Ireland. However when we combine red + blond + light brown hair, it makes up 64%!

The weather is often cloudy in the UK and Éire and we live at a low altitude from the sun.

Some people can tan without burning in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland,
but there's also many people who can only wear fake tan;- depends on the individual.

I don't see many Scandinavian people getting burned in the sun
and they seem to be able to get a light tan without burning.

Belgium is in Western Europe! Our country for your information is located between France to south and west, Germany to east, the Netherlands to the north-east and Britain to north-west, Luxembourg to the south-east. Our pigmentation is a reflection of our geographical location. Flanders is as a whole lighter-haired, lighter-eyed than Wallonia, though the difference is not great at all, it's consistent. Unless some crazy troll exaggerates.

NEtherlands outside randstad (which is more multicultural than London and Paris) is just as blonde as Scandinavia, at least on my own experience.. so are large areas in Northern germany. I can compare ethnic northern german adult men and ethnic Western Norwegian adult men... you surprisingly would find more Norwegians with that type of auburn and brownish hair , while northern germans are more consistently blond.

And Poles are not as blonde as germans, specially not as blonde as Northern Germans, but still blonder than Britons. I run more often across POlish women who look genuinely blonde, tall and germanic than among British or English women, who usually are bottle blondes.. Czech has a lot of tall leggy blond women too.

No. The proportion of natural blond hair among ethnic Dutch as a whole is 32.3% which is similar to that of England! Though northern provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe are above the national average. Germany proportion is lower at 26.7%, Poland 25% not much different from Scotland's 26.1%.

I am afraid you are mistaken. The 89% for light eyes is highest in Scandinavia, it is for the ethnic Finnish. If Saami, Gypsy, Russians are included the figure would be much lower! Your over 90% statement isn't much different from the one given, could be debatable. I could do the same thing and take the figure on Ireland given by the Harvard School of Anthropology shows the Irish to be exceptionally light-eyed, when less than 0.5% were found to have pure brown eyes!! Thus the main difference in pigmentation between Finnish, Scandinavians vs Britons, Irish is that the former is lighter-haired but not so much lighter-eyed as we can see by the figures. Additionally both groups are as a whole fair-skinned with the Irish or Britons less likely to tan than Finns or Scandinavians.

Finland = 89%
Norway, Iceland = 88%
Sweden = 86%
Denmark = 84%

Whatever. What I have hear here in Finland was 91% (among of ethnic Finns).....but like you say...is it now really 89% or 91%? Quite the same and probable really quite hard to measure correctly.

One other thing...here light eyed colours tends to be (in average level) lighter than same colours in British Island or in Central Europe. For example my (blue) eyes are closely to number 11 and not 12. See the link below. And the same is true with quite many here....incl. those who has green eyes, gray eyes....or mix of these.
