That used to be a fear of mine, but over time I've gotten to the point where I find it preferable to unburden myself and let others determine how they regard my thoughts and opinions. It's not really a worthwhile struggle to attempt to convince people of something so vague.
Get a group of people together, and there won't be a consensus on what intelligence is. One could argue, well, wouldn't the intelligent people know who is or isn't? Perhaps, but that doesn't necessarily equate to others either grasping or acknowledging this.

This is so true. When I started a distance university course I was completely flummoxed. There was minimal guidance and they basically left you alone to do your own thing. I was extremely threatened by it.
