Nice! My Dad's family were from Fairfax County ( where my grandfather and I were born.. Dad was born in D.C.), Virginia and my Dad's Mom was from right across the river in Prince George's County, Maryland. Except for the 1/16 Virginia German, my Dad is of Colonial English heritage as far back as any of us can trace.

Your grandfather was also of Colonial Virginian stock, then?

Indeed he was. As with your dad's family, he had a bit of recent German thrown into his mix, but he was definitely mostly Colonial English, likely with Scotch-Irish too.
