I understood the question to mean "Can I speak the language of my parents and grandparents ?" My answer would have been "Poorly". The Norwegian which I learnt at my grandmother's knee was bondespraak, literally, "farmer talk". It was a 19th century (she was born in 1882) rustic dialect most closely related to the Bergen dialect.
Thus, it is difficult for me to understand modern Norwegian which is based on "riksmaal", which is mostly Danish, as spoken in the Oslo area. As far as I can tell, the attempt to produce a truly Norwegian language: Nynorsk ("New Norwegian") has not succeeded. I have never met anyone who speaks it.
