actually term blond comes from blue i belive, in Croatian we call it plava, which translates to blue, and it determines a person with light characteristics like blue eyes and light hair

There is a fine line between light brown and blonde. From what I have seen in IRL the difference has to do in that in light the blonde will have a yellow tone to it, while the brown will not, even if both colors look similar indoors. Additionally, blondes will the hair lighter and more yellow when exposed to the sun for a period of time, like from tanning.

Yes I read somewhere that it depends on your base. If your hair has greenish reflections then it'd be called blonde while if your hair has a reddish reflections then it'd be called brown. To me blonde hair has to have a yellow tint just like you said.

I know! People in Latin America kept calling me "rubio" and I have dark brown hair. I was really surprised!

I have a funny anecdote about that, my sister was at some fair with her best friend and they had a Chinese instructor. My sister has dark blonde hair while her best friend has strawberry blond hair. To the chinese guy my sister was simply "blond girl" and her best friend "other blond girl" when their hair color is quite different.

Yes, just like actual black hair is really rare amongst European. I assume that everything that isn't raven black hair or jet black hair will be considered "blond". That's actually why I created the thread in the first place. Everyone will agree with European's perception of "blond hair" while Euros might disagree with non-euro's perception of "blond hair".

When my sister went to Morocco everyone was so obsessed with her hair. Everybody wanted to touch her hair and random people gave her coins. They all wanted to put henna on her head and were really upset when my mom refused. She didn't want my sister to turn "orange". My sister was freaking out and spent most of her trip washing her head lol
