Default National Film Board of Canada

A thread devoted to gems from the NFB.

"The Hockey Sweater," a child's story written by Roch Carrier, is an iconic piece of Canadiana. One of my very favourite examples of Canadian animation.

Synopsis: In this animated short, Roch Carrier recounts the most mortifying moment of his childhood. At a time when all his friends worshipped Maurice "Rocket" Richard and wore his number 9 Canadiens hockey jersey, he was mistakenly sent a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey from Eaton's. Unable to convince his mother to send it back, he must face his friends wearing the colours of the opposing team. This short film, based on the book The Hockey Sweater, is an NFB classic that appeals to hockey lovers of all ages.

The NFB have gotten way too PC.

Not that I have a problem with ethnic minorities on TV or in film, but they seem to have a quota in every damn show or movie, even when an ethnic minority looks totally out of place. Like the Native cop on Corner Gas... Lawrence Cardinal is an amazing actor, and his character on Corner Gas is funny, but how many Natives (or other minorities) do you think live in the real Dog River, Saskatewan?

Just looks cheesy and out of place.
