Western Isles still does it, parts of Ireland & Wales. But it's such a minority set of languages, which a shame. All the celtic languages are soft spoken and nice to listen too.

Definitely nowhere near as harsh as English...The language itself sounds alien to my ears, but I already prefer it to English.

Your (native) ancestors' language Olde English got usurped and subverted by the (foreign) British royals. They came with 'modern' English...which was a just loosely based off olde english and with the era of Columbus, all kind of loanwords and the beginning of globalism. You or the native English are not the devils, just the victims.

What culture is 'personified' by the Croatian youth? What they see on TV I bet...(like all youth globally), and what is seen on TV is hollywood or influenced. Everytime I see a Somali hiphop video or Iranians with mohawks, and goth style I know it is winning.

American culture, sex and the city and such... We are quite westernized, although the mania was few years ago, now bit less.

Trailer park boys and other Canadian tv series like Degrassi High (where Drake started) are Gov't subsidized, there are federal rules demanding 60% "Canadian content" in all TV broadcasting. Most networks go around this by counting things like Curling tournament in Nova Scotia (that nobody will watch) and News as Canadian content. The TV here is basically Americanized, and infact Canadians are in huge demand in hollywood aswell as American network tv because of the neutral Canadian accent. Every Canadian artist aspires to leave for the big pond Los Angeles, NYC etc

People forget Peter Jennings, the voice of ABC news was Canadian born and raised in Toronto
