I actually meant to say that north italians aren't nordic as dutch, germans or brits but they are defenetelly not mediterranean, at least 20% have medium brown to blond hair and 40% light or light mixed eyed, north italy is therefore comparable with central europe (austria, south germany, switzerland) in terms of pigmentation and metrics.

why people think Northen Italian are sort of nordic?
when I spent time in Milan and in the region between Milan and Bergamo I've seen A LOT of blue-eyed blonds, more than in northernmost Romania for example, which surprised me a lot. I cannot estimate the % I've observed, they are of course still a minority, but their % is strong enough to make an impression, to make visitors notice an excess of blondness and "Nordic" types compared to other Mediterranean or Balkan regions

Yes northen italians are quite fairish if compared to most southern europeans countries (except croatia and slovenia) but they don't look stereotypically nordic on average, even though nordid types aren't uncommon (10% maybe)

Northern Italians don't look at all very light like Central and Northern Europeans. They can be just as dark as South Italians with whom they are well mixed in the cities anyway. You are more likely to meet really swarthy individuals than any blonds( bleached blonde women aside). Northern Italians(including alpine region) are only as light as Romanians and southernmost Frenchmen(in part because of being well mixed with dagos). Most are not even pale, let alone fair haired or light eyed. You people have medium to dark complexion and dark hair and eyes for the most part and you tan really well.

It really depends, some lombards can be quite dark (tan skin, dark hair, brown eyes) but the average isn't swartzy at all (brown hair, fair skin, light or mixed eyes) and there are some tall, blond, blue eyed types as well. They are not extremly darker than the austrians (austrians are blonder of course), the swartzy types in north italy are about common as fairish types, with the average having an intermediate pigmentation.
Also central europeans are significantly darker than northen euros, the anglo and the danes are way lighter than austrians or slovenians.

It made an impression on you, because Southern Italians are so much darker.

Of course they are not extremely swarthy, since they are Europeans after all and they would not be called whites by anyone if they were that dark. But you are a little darker than Austrians. Not just hair color, but also eye color on average and often even skin color or more eastern shifted features that make some Italians look MENA. Because of the big migrations from South Italy since the 60s which brought millions of 'terroni' to the North there has been a lot of mixing also between these two groups and cities and towns have a mixed Northern+Southern population. This means that swarthy types are far from rare in the North. Maybe in the villages they are a little lighter, but not like Austrians on average. I've been to Liguria and Tuscany to both towns and villages and people there are not lighter than Romanians and not as light as Austrian/South Germans. Most have dark eyes, dark hair and medium colored skin. They are definitely still South Europeans proper.

Tuscany is not northen italy to begin with, and liguria is only barely influenced by germanic migrations, true north italians have an incidence of medium brown to blond hair of 10-20% , the frisians for comparison have about 70%, the austrians 30% and the greeks 5% or less, eye colour among north italians is also quite light (about 40%), for istance the frisians are above 80% and the austrians around 55%, the greeks 15%.

Ubermensch. I think that you are being unfair to your own people. How can you compare them to Northern Euros? Such as Danes (64% blond), Frisians ( 43% + blond), Anglos ( 35.5% blond). A proper comparison would be with the Northern Portuguese and Northern Greeks.
