The "black irish" stereotype refers to pale skinned,light eyed, dark haired phenotype that is common among the celtic fringe, dark hair is fairly common among the irish but dark eyes and tan skin isn't, red hair is actually very light and most of brits (except welsh) are lighter haired than germans, except north germans (who are very similar to the english).

Yes, I agree that all in all, the British are lighter-haired than Germans, additionally they are more Nordid in race. This was even agreed upon by the most extremist group of Germany ( you know who). The British are more or less equivalent to Northern Germans. The Eastern English ( blonde and red shades) are lighter than Northern Germans.
